New Capabilities
I hope this note finds you safe and well, and optimistic about the new year. There were certainly a lot of challenges in 2020, but one positive of the past year has been the increased time and space to learn and reflect.
I’m reaching the conclusion of the Graduate Mentorship Program (GMP) with Sharon Weizenbaum that began in Sept 2018, and I’m enormously grateful for the additional time I have had in these past 10 months to really solidify my understanding of key concepts in diagnosis and herbal medicine.
I have also taken a deep(er) dive into Sa’am acupuncture, a style of acupuncture believed to have been founded in Korea and predominantly practiced by traveling monks. I have seen some really amazing results with this style of acupuncture and am using it more frequently as I gain more clarity.
Lijana has been busy furthering her understanding of the body and of Chinese medicine as well. This year she will complete the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Program (SMAC) that began in Oct 2019, and in March will begin the Graduate Mentorship Program (GMP) in diagnosis and herbal medicine with Sharon Weizenbaum. I found it to be such an amazing learning opportunity and I am excited for Lijana to embark on this course.
Lijana also recently completed NAET certification. NAET is a form of treatment used for allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances which can show up as digestive or skin issues, or as pain (particularly headaches). Treatment involves muscle testing with a homeopathic vial of the potential allergen and then using arthroscopic stimulation, acupressure, and acupuncture to desensitize the patient to the particular allergen. NAET appointments are separate from acupuncture appointments. Contact Lijana (lijana@apexacu.com) for more information or to set up an appointment.
